Tavaziva Dance Screening of MANDLA Performance

Tavaziva Dance is screening extracts from some of our most acclaimed productions.

The films are accompanied by commentary from Bawren Tavaziva providing a context to each of the works.

Mandla is a powerful dance piece exploring the themes of struggle for freedom and fair treatment, in honour of Nelson Mandela who dedicated his life to fighting for the views, attitudes and rights of all people of South Africa.

“This is a personal tribute to Mandela. At the same time I was looking at people who fight during wars, who deserve the same respect and have never been recognised for their work.”

It is a prayer to the ancestors asking God to help us appreciate and acknowledge the people who sacrificed their lives fighting against oppression.
