Alumni of Wandsworth's prestigious National Opera Studio join forces with the renowned Burntwood Chamber Choir to perform songs and opera extracts which feature the four seasons of the year.
The performance will also including a short song cycle written especially for Burntwood by the Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir CBE.
The Burnwood Chamber Choir has sung at all of London’s major concert halls and recorded film scores at Pinewood and Abbey Road Studios. In competition, the girls have reached the final of the National Festival of Music for Youth, been named Choir of the Day at the Choir of the Year competition, and twice represented England at the International Eisteddfod; they have sung for Her Majesty the Queen on three occasions and danced with Archbisop Desmond Tutu at St Martin in the Fields
For forty years, the National Opera Studio (NOS) has been training generations of opera singers and répétiteurs (opera pianists), who have gone on to perform at the greatest houses around the world. In fact, it is unusual to go to an opera in the UK without seeing an NOS alumnus on the cast list. Proudly based in Wandsworth, near to Southside Shopping Centre, the NOS also hosts free lunchtime concerts every month.
