Ways to take part and get involved in WAF 2021 projects

Wandsworth Arts Fringe: Young Reviewers

Thursday 24 June, 5.30-7pm | Online workshop

As part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2021 we are running a project for young people in Wandsworth age 14-19 to become WAF Young Reviewers – attending some of the performances and sharing their experiences.

Join our online workshop to find out about this year's festival and explore how to write your own reviews with actor, writer and critic, Kalungi Ssebandeke.

Our Young Reviers can choose which WAF events they'd like to attend and review.

To get involved, email creativewandsworth@wandsworth.gov.uk with your name, age, school / college, and a few lines on why you would like to take part.

A Greener Picture: Photography and Climate Change

WAF is inviting young people to share a creative response to the Climate Emergency, encouraging climate change awareness through the use of photography.

Artists from the RCA’s photography MA have created a handy top tips video on how to take a great picture, sharing a range of photographic exercises used by the professionals.

Share your photography via social media using the hashtag #agreenerpicture.

World Heart Beat is calling all young guitarists to take part in Congrego!

Workshops: Tuesdays 22 and 29 June | Event: Thursday 1 July, 7pm — 8.45pm 

World Heart Beat Music Academy introduces its Congrego! Festival which celebrates Latin American music and dance, with stunning curated performances providing a vibrant showcase of Latin energy and culture.

They invite young people aged 10-25 years to take part in a series of pre-festival guitar workshops (online or face to face) on Tuesday 22 and 29th June from 6.30pm at the academy.

'We are All Superheroes' Workshop by Tinkamel

Saturday 26 June Online Event, £12/£8

Order your kits in and join Tinkamel for and electro-textile workshop where you will break the boundaries between art and science by designing you own super-hero mask and decorating it with a sewn circuit.

You will design your super-hero look, create your mask and add some light to the costume you deserve!

Oily Cart’s Space to Be is a sensory show sent to your home, created for and with disabled young people (aged 0-18) who experience the world in a sensory way, and their families.

Theatre/Radio Internship with Blackshaw Theatre Company

An introduction to working in professional theatre and radio, offering the chance to shadow and assist their sound designer/engineer, director, actors and stage manager on a professional production.

This programme runs alongside Blackshaws Theatre's upcoming show in the WAF Big Top Showcase for Wandsworth Arts Fringe.

PlayKits encourage children to play, engage with nature and their local environment, support the development of a positive mental and emotional health, and materials to support them to be creative at home.

Bounce Theatre - STORY CLUB, WAF Digital Packs

STORY CLUB is for anyone who loves stories! Using the power of our imaginations, we will take ourselves on wild adventures, become superheroes and travel the world! These special festival packs include activities such as sculpture making, urban art collaging, story-telling and drama. You can do a section at a time, or you can take different ideas from each bit!

Ubuntu Museum, The Nude Gallery - Colour of Inclusion

Founded in 2018, Ubuntu Museum: The African Museum of Humanity is a social enterprise with a mission to celebrate cultural inclusion within education, the arts and commerce. Our first ever exhibition, The Nude Gallery, is a collection of stories and objects exploring the subjects of diversity and inclusion in dance, medical, educational and commercial items e.g. ballet shoes, plasters, crayons, make-up etc.
