Edward Day

Clowning with Shakespeare

Mixing clowning techniques from Paris's Ecole Jacques Lecoq with traditional approaches to Shakespeare, Edward Day will lead you through a series of exercises and improvisations exploring:

·       Wordplay

·       Spontaneity

·       Audience interaction

·       Idiocy, ignorance and arrogance

·       Taking things to extremes

You will work with very short excerpts from Shakespeare's plays, but feel free to bring your own selections as well to explore.

Edward trained classically at ALRA and physically at Lecoq. His show Super Hamlet 64: Parody DLC is wild mix of clowning, Shakespeare and videogame nostalgia and plays at the Cat's Back on 15 and 19 May.
