'Showering' tells the story of siblings Kaia and Isaac who, despite living together and having a close relationship, don’t realise that they are both sexual assault survivors.
Their unprocessed trauma massively impacts their everyday life and their relationships. 'Showering' explores what happens when people suffer in silence due to the lack of an emotional support system.
Our vision behind the production is to fill the educational gap surrounding consent. Despite the “Me too” movement, which began in 2014, it is still evident that very few people feel able to talk about their sexual abuse experiences. The play will visually lay out what happens if people suppress their emotions and refuse to unpack their trauma. By relating to the story of the characters in the play, we hope audiences will learn more about consent and gaslighting.
