Art / Exhibitions - Music - Spoken Word (Poetry) / Books
I have used art as a way of escapism. A way to self-soothe and to have a deeper understanding of my thoughts and feelings towards tough subjects and situations. All from an early age of life. I have also held paintbrushes to live in a decorative, outward experience, and have visually channelled a way for folk tales to live on.
Growing up around the Caribbean community, I gained an understanding of the importance of representation and how powerful that influence was (and is) through generations. I learnt I could use my paintings to tell stories from my own experience and push a narrative which had positive and majestic connotations, thus bringing the viewer to a place of connection and nurture, of celebration and love.
The works being exhibited have a distinct Picasso-esque style and detail the inner pining of human connection between land and earth; body and 'free up' lifestyle; and culture, engaging in its own love language and conversation.
The family-friendly and creative procession will lead you through ways of community and a mystical living experience with performances in the evening.
There is also a one-off opportunity to purchase the pieces as originals and prints on the day of the exhibition.
