The world première of Symphony No.1 by Marc Harris; ‘Shifting Sands'. Marc is a Putney based musician and composer who spent lockdown writing this symphony. It is dedicated to his dear friend George Lebon, who sadly passed away in 2020.
Marc draws on a wide range of classical influences including Mozart, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov and Holst. The music is shaped by his life-long passion for travel and exploration, and is inspired by many of the world’s most dramatic landscapes; from the shifting sands of Arabia, to the rainforests of Central and South America.
Marc is primarily a blues pianist, but with no opportunities to gig during lockdown he directed his musical energies into writing this symphony. The work would never have come to fruition without early input from Richard Coulson and many months of painstaking instruction and inspiration from the most excellent teacher and orchestrator, Jo Reeves
Jo is conducting all three movements with a superb orchestra and choir assembled mainly from the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall.
