STILL
A film about Wandsworth and its residents, telling the story of Rory, an actor who finds himself sofa surfing following the closure of theatres during the Covid-19 crisis. The production layers short footage devised by the filmmaking group from St Mungo’s Recovery College with a filmed interview between Rory, Wandsworth community members, and director Laurence Dollander.
Laurence’s projects focus on reducing misconceptions and bridging communities. Usually mixing live with pre-recorded performances, this is her first entirely filmed production. She remains faithful to experimenting with the documentary medium and challenging the role given to the performer by exploring a social and artistic form, where participants and audiences identify with one another.
