An evening of performance, interactive workshops and exhibition celebrating art produced in local barbershops, salons and cafés.
SWITCH takes art from traditional institutions and places it in the community. This project has involved a number of artists in residence in local spaces; barbershops, salons, and cafe's working in collaboration with community organisations to create their art. We want to redefine what constitutes an ‘art space’ by putting the art and the artist in areas people frequent, making art accessible and removing barriers to those who wouldn’t usually visit museums, galleries and theatres.
This performance is the culmination of the art produced over the course of this project, supported by Wandsworth Arts Fringe through Wandsworth Grant Fund.
Come and experience with us the creativity of the borough, see if you recognise any of the spaces we used as inspiration and discuss with us, who holds the art, where art belongs and the impact of changing its location during an engaging night of interactive workshops, live performances and exhibitions.
This performance will be broadcasted live by Riverside Radio.
