Every week local residents from the Patmore, Savona and Carey Gardens estates have been meeting up to learn about how they can influence their local environment, grow food and attract bees and insects.
They have created a small garden in the R.O.S.E. Community Clubroom outdoor space, they have helped maintain the garden at St George's School and the planter on the Edible Avenue SW8 wall that runs along Thessaly Road.
And at the end of 2017 they stretched out onto the estates where they restored rose beds on the Savona estate, embarked on some bulb and meadow planting on Carey Gardens estate, and helped some people look after their private gardens on the Patmore estate.
One of the gardeners, Lorraine Roberts, is a professional choreographer so we would like to combine this skill with gardening, and share the vision more widely, to encourage more people to nurture small growing spaces in the area.
