Using the exquisite ambiance of the Victorian reading room of the Battersea Library TURMOIL is set in a Jane Austenesque South-American world, a surreal tragicomedy by hugely successful Brazilian playwright Jô Bilac. It sees lust and sibling love between Vladine and Matias bring havoc to the latter’s marriage to the beautiful Bianca.
Vladine has come to live with her brother due to a fatal disease and the mysterious death of her husband, and has brought Nataniel, a blind goat whom she treats like a child, with her. Bianca’s devotion to her beloved husband is tested by his sister’s increasingly absurd demands and Matias’ growing attachment to the goat. An energetic physical tragicomedy featuring flamenco, live music and a tap dancing goat!
